Manual Handling of People-Hoist & Sling Training

Aims
This course provides delegates with an understanding of the underpinning principles and risks associated with the manual handling of people using hoists and slings.
This course is suitable for staff that have not previously undertaken hoist training or who simply require refresher training.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session delegates will be able to meet the learning outcomes of the following Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) Units:
HSC027 Contribute to Health and Safety in Health and Social Care-Outcome 2 & 5
HSC2002 Provide support for mobility- Outcome 1, 2*, 3* & 4*
HSC2028 Move and Position individuals in accordance with their plan of care- Outcome 3*, 4*, 5* & 6
HSC2024 Undertake agreed pressure area care- Outcome 1.4

HSC2002 Outcome 1, HSC2028 Outcome 6 & HSC2024 Outcome 1.4-Delegates undertaking their QCF Award will be provided with a work sheet and handouts which they must complete and discuss with their manager/assessor on returning to their workplace.

HSC2028 Outcome 1 & 2- these outcomes are covered on a new starter manual handling.

* Within the learning environment the delegate will receive the underpinning information required which will have to be assessed in a real work situation as required by the awarding body.
