![]() ![]() ![]() The Colebrook Respite Unit offers bright, light bedrooms - two with en-suite facilities - and a wide range of amenities, including a quiet room. Friendly staff do their utmost to make visitors feel relaxed and at home. It is important, however, to make
arrangements in advance of visits. | Benefits of respite care A seven-bed respite unit, attached to The Colebrook Centre, offers carers a safe, secure and friendly accommodation for their loved ones, should they need to have a break. Annmarie Yardley, who manages The Colebrook Centre and the Respite Unit, said: “The respite unit operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It provides an essential service for carers should they need to go into hospital or enjoy a family holiday. “Our staff are great at helping people to feel at home here. We focus on helping our visitors to settle in and feel at home. We work around their needs and diets. “Visitors usually bring something from home to make their bedrooms feel more personal and that can help them to settle more easily.” Two of the seven bedrooms have en-suite facilities, but there are toilets and bathroom right next to the other bedrooms. The staff are used to reassuring guests and making their stay as comfortable as possible. For visitors who find new company rather daunting, the Colebrook Centre also has a quiet room where they can go to relax, read or knit. Another important service is the drop-in facility. Annmarie said: “If carers need to go to an evening event, weddings or other occasions, they can make arrangements with us to help to look after their loved one at the centre for those few hours.” | ||||||||||||||
