appreciated gifts Gift aid is tax relief on money donated to UK charities. The Trust is able to reclaim this tax from the Inland Revenue and so increase the value of a donation. However, donors must pay enough UK income tax and/or capital gains tax themselves to cover the amount of tax the charity will reclaim. They will also need to give the charity a gift aid declaration, which should include - their name - their home address - the charity’s name - details of the donation – saying that it is a gift aid donation - confirmation that they have paid UK tax - to cover the tax the charity will reclaim. With the above information the transaction is simple and we will do the rest for you. A declaration can be made to cover individual donations, a series of donations, donations made during a specified period or to cover all future donations. Donations can also be backdated for up to six years prior to the date of the declaration provided they have been made since April 6, 2000.

Payroll giving is easy![]() Payroll giving is a simple, tax-free regular payment to a charity direct from your pay. Built with donated money, the barn (pictured right) at Newlands Bishop Farm has made a big difference to those who visit and work at there. Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax so each £1.00 ![]() that is given will only cost the donor 78p, and if they are a higher rate tax payer it will only cost 60p. A donation of £5 per month costs the basic rate tax payer £3.90 (the taxman pays the rest!) Jayne Hicks, Finance manager, said: “The benefits to the Family Care Trust is enormous, it means that we can plan ahead and we know what we will receive and when. For a charity such as ours it is of enormous benefit. So many elderly and vulnerable people relie on us.” All you do is fill out a donor form authorising your payroll department to take contributions from your salary. Payroll then pass these funds onto the Inland Revenue approved Payroll Giving agency who distribute donations to the relevant causes.
