The Blanning Day Centre, Solihull.

	Centre of happiness Happiness is usually what greets clients, visitors and staff alike at the Blanning Day Centre in Bentley Heath, Solihull. Debbie Hogan (pictured left) has been the manager, for three years. She said: “It is a lovely working here, the atmosphere is great and the environment is so friendly.” The centre has 24 clients each day. Lunch, cooked in its own kitchen usually consists of traditional meals and there are alternatives for different cultures and people with diabetes. A hairdresser comes in three times a week, and help is on hand for clients who live on their own, but need bathing assistance. There are plenty of outings including shopping trips and pub lunches.
		What we can do to help Transport to and from the centre by experienced drivers in vehicles designed for people with disabilities. Friendly, NVQ qualified and motivated staff. Choice of meals reflecting dietary and cultural needs. Key worker appointed for each client. Regular carers group meetings and liaison with Solihull Social Services Department. Bathing services.
